We also run activity sessions for groups who may want some fun and some healthy exercise. We
have a collection of vehicles that represent the wide range of cycles
available for people with special needs. These are available for people
to try out at low cost to find what machines suit them best. Most of
these are commercially available designs, however we sometimes build or
adapt machines ourselves. We also use the project to promote awareness
of such vehicles as we feel that many people may not realise they exist. We can advise people about what machines are available and where to get them, as we have built up a lot of specialist knowledge and contacts. We also have contacts with community care groups, health authorities and therapists and can arrange ‘try-out’ rides with interested groups. We have a workshop adjacent to Abbey Park which means you can try the machines in a safe and pleasant
environment. During the week we hold sessions for groups where the
emphasis is on a fun and stimulating physical activity. These sessions
are particularly suitable for people from day centres and disability
groups. At the weekends we
are open to people who are more independent who wish to try some of the
machines. They can then rent the machine they choose for a longer ride
along the Great Central Way or Riverside Way. We also organise group
rides along these routes from time to time.If you are thinking of buying a machine we strongly recommend that you try a few out first to find out what suits you. You can also try one of ours on an extended rental so that you can use it in your own environment and find out whether it is suitable for your needs. |
