Cyclemagic to close - 10 July 2012

It is with sadness that we announce Cyclemagic is to close its Friday Street doors for the final time on Tuesday July 31st. After thirteen years of working together and a total of 45 years spent promoting cycling in Leicester, the growing level of local bureaucracy has overwhelmed our enjoyment of running the organisation.

We have had many memorable moments, made many friends and achieved a great deal that we are proud of, including:

 Organising four Spokesfest Cycling Festivals
 Organising Leicester’s first cycling film festival
 Setting up Leicester’s first bike recycling project
 Setting up Leicestershire’s only disability cycling project
 Hosting a Guinness World Record with 131 Penny Farthing bicycles
 Opening the 2007 Tour de France in London
 Working on a world-wide advert for Stella Artois
 Teaching Olympic Champion Chris Hoy to ride a Penny Farthing
 Making a documentary film with the BBC
 Teaching thousands of local children to cycle safely
 Helping countless people with special needs enjoy the benefits of cycling

Almost all of our large range of machines, spares and accessories are to be sold and we will be announcing a series of bike sales and cycle jumbles over the coming weeks.

We will retain the Cyclemagic brand name and, after an extended and long overdue break, plan to relocate elements of the organisation to another town. Our final event in Leicester will be our Cycling With Style bike ride on September 16th and we would like to invite everyone to come along to help us celebrate Cyclemagic and the changes it has brought to cycling in Leicester

We would both like to thank everyone that has supported our work over the years and hope to see many of you whilst out riding our bikes in the future.
